Australia faces important decisions about how we structure our future tax system, and WACOSS is pleased to present a Social Policy Forum to discuss the Henry Tax Review, a report produced for the Australian Government on Australia's Future Tax System. The Review examined Australian and State government taxes to position Australia to deal with the demographic, social, economic and environmental challenges that lie ahead. The report discusses a 10 year agenda to share prosperity more fairly and maximise the nation?s economic opportunities. Guest Speaker - Julian Disney Julian is a Professor and Director of the Social Justice Project at the University of New South Wales and Chair of the National Affordable Housing Summit and National Chair of Anti-Poverty Week. He is Convenor of the Community Tax Project and of the Neighbours Program, which works to strengthen engagement between community leaders in Australia and neighbouring Asian countries. He has also been President of the NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) and the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) and formerly World President of the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) which represents social welfare organisations from more than 80 countries. He has been the principal author or editor of books and articles relating to aspects of taxation, housing, and social welfare.
